National Museum
of Anthropology
Last May 28, 2023, we the
social studies major together with our professor Ms. Bel Tisuela visited the
National Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of Anthropology. The
opening of the museum is 9:00 in the morning and we arrive at Manila 7:30 in
the morning so we decided first to go to the Luneta Park, since June 12 is the
Independence Day, we took a picture in the Luneta Park so that we can have a
myday in fb at June 12 to celebrate ofcourse the Philippine Independence Day.
We go to National Museum of Anthropology,
wherein it amazed me because there’s a lot of things inside the museum. It provides
a wealth of information about the people from whom the collection originated. From
baskets, weapons, textiles, to various religious, agricultural, and economic
tools. It helps us to understand the development of the anthropological field
and the history of those things.
The one object that amazed me inside the museum is the sarimanok has a different
beautiful color and the way it was created makes me more amazed. Sarimanok is an important part of the Maranao’s culture
that represents their artistic and architectural designs, rituals, dance, and
festivals. Also, Maranao’s believed that sarimanok will give them good fortune
and that will have bountiful harvest. Visiting museum help us to learn
more about our culture and traditions in our history. It helps us to preserve
the important historical and scientific artifacts in our past. It helps us to
teach, inspire and connect to our historical events. Also, visiting museum help
us to enlighten more about the important events in the history.
As what I’ve
experienced in visiting museum for me it was a bit tiring, the museum was so
big and u feel tired upon observing different things inside the museum, but the
good thing about visiting museum is that you will learn a lot, aside from that
you gain experiences that no one can give to you. Experiences is the best
teacher, so if you yourself saw those things literally and personally that was
the most satisfying moment upon visiting the museum. Like what I’ve said tiring
at first, but it was very satisfying, upon learning about our past and events,
no one can replace those experiences.
